Making your mind up

Before you embark on professional training you may want to find out more about the education system in the UK or gain some necessary qualifications. This section provides information on the steps you can take to help you make the right choices later on.

There are a number of things you can do at this stage to help you make your mind up.  Click on the links to get more information:

You can visit a school classroom to see how the classes and lessons are organized and delivered.
You can take a taster course that provides introductory information about the UK education system and includes a school visit.
You may live in an area that has specialist provision for refugee teachers. This could be a course, advice and guidance or other forms of support.
You could consider teaching in your community at a supplementary school.

If you decide you want to study to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) you may need to take a GCSE in English, Maths and/or Science.
